Congratulations on accepting your offer to TMU Engineering! Your undergraduate engineering journey will be some of the best years of your life! On behalf of the Engineering Spirit and Orientation Committee, we are here to present the breakdown of TMU Engineering Orientation Week.

You will be put into one of eight Despicable Me Houses. There will be a bunch of Frosh leaders, one captain, and one co-captain in your house. During the week, the activities you participate in will count for points, and the house with the most points wins! On Friday, there will be an iron pin ceremony thanking you for your participation and dedication to Frosh Week!

Monday: The Rise of Gru!

On this day, you will be attending Academic Orientation, hosted by the First-Year Engineering Office. This is where you will get vital information about your engineering pathway, setting you on the path of greatness! This leads to our epic Villainous Vector Tours. Your frosh leaders will take you to hot spots on campus and have mini-games at each station. These tours will lead you into our grand Engineering Expo, where you will meet every student group, design team, course union, and chapter, learning the many ways to get involved at TMU Engineering. After the free pizza and the firing of our Khannon (you will learn what this is), you will partake in an Egg Drop Competition where each house will design an egg capsule and the EngSOC will launch your creations using our trebuchet (yes you read that right) in the Quad. After this, we will close the day with a Q&A session from our frosh leaders!

Tuesday: Purpling + Parade!

This day is steeped in the rich traditions of Engineering, like Purpling! Show off your dedication to the profession and feel the impact of this noble career. After this, we will parade to El Macho’s Island, shout our various meeting chants to the ferry, and sticker-bomb the city of Toronto. As we settle on the island, there will be lots of free food, activities, a place to swim, and a whole lot of adventure!

Wednesday: Minion Mischief Wednesday!

Prepare for a day filled with fun and creativity! The EngSOC has many fun-filled activities. Engage in the Cardboard Boat Race and Havenger Scunt! Your house will compete against others to build the best boat and race it in the Recreation and Athletic Centre (RAC) Pool. l. After a delicious lunch, you will embark on THE Havenger Scunt, where your house earns points for completing crazy tasks!

Thursday: Despicabrawl!

This day is packed with competitions, such as our Free-For-All games, 1v1 House Competitions, our hardhat decorating station, and our legendary TMU Engineering Game Show. Expect to see some wild activities you have never seen before, earn points for your house, and laugh your way through the most entertaining game show you’ll witness!

Friday: Shinerama!

The most important day of any Frosh Week is Fridayyy! Shinerama! Shinerama! Fridayyy! That’s our Shinerama chant! Shinerama is a nationwide post-secondary school fundraising event for Cystic Fibrosis. We fundraise through fun and exciting booths laid out on Gould Street. By donating to participate in these booths, all proceeds will go to CF Canada, Cystic Fibrosis
researchers, Cystic Fibrosis medications, and much more. The week will conclude with an iron pin ceremony, celebrating the spirit of engineering and highlighting the week’s adventures!
